Eight defending Section VI Div. II champions (nine total) and three state tournament wildcards are back from the 2017-2018 team. The Section sent thirty total wrestlers to the NYS tournament in February 2018, which included the fifteen Section VI champions and fifteen wildcards which was more than any other section. Section VI finished behind only Section III (CNY) in the team standings and crowned two state champions for the second time in three years (four champs in 2016).
