ALBANY — With wrestlers gathered from various high school athletic leagues across New York, NYSPHSAA, CHSAA, NYSAIS, and PSAL, the search for a state champion began on Friday, at the Times-Union Center in Albany.

Of the 50-plus qualified wrestlers from the Lower Hudson Valley, only 11 advanced past the opening round and quarterfinals to secure a spot in Saturday's final four.
