1968-1969 Olean Huskies Wrestling
For the first season in several years, Olean High developed a varsity wrestling squad for interscholastic competition. Coached by Matt Conte, the OHS grapplers had a fairly successful first season. Individual standouts like Monty Shoemaker, Van Gayton, and Jerry Russell performed well on the mats. The hard work and determination shown by this year's squad should carry over to 1970, when another fine team is bound to develop. SOURCE: 1969 Congress.
