Horseheads wrestling comes on strong

NEWS

Blue Raiders sending three wrestlers to state meet after going five years without a sectional champion.

Three wrestlers from Horseheads were crowned as Section 4 champions two weekends ago, but there was no denying the team's performance was more of a home run than a triple.

It had been five years since any wrestler from Horseheads captured a sectional title, so to see freshman Devin Woodworth (99 pounds), eighth-grader Jake Scibek (113) and sophomore Chris Eames (170) atop the podium at Binghamton's Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena made for a special evening for the Blue Raiders.
