Albany - Columbia junior John Devine fell just short of his first state title, as the Blue Devils' standout suffered a 3-1 defeat against No. 1 seed Anthony Sparacio (Section XI-North Babylon) in the Division I 120-pound championship on Saturday at Times Union Center.

"I didn't think it would go that way," Devine said. "I thought I was in position to do just as much as he was."
