Heavyweight Andrew Tanner made sure Adirondack Central's most decorated wrestling season in school history ended on a high note Saturday night.
Tanner, an unseeded junior who qualified for his first New York State Public High School Athletic Association tournament as a "wild card," rallied for a 2-1 victory in the 285-pound weight class and helped Adirondack's Wildcats win a Division II team title at the Times Union Center in Albany.
Tanner, 49-4 this season and 126-26 in his career, is Adirondack's fourth state champion, a list that includes former U.S. Olympian Jason Gleasman (1993), Anthony Austin (2007) and teammate Derek Spann (2013).
