There were a lot of familiar faces in the finals, as eight of the winners in Division 1 were repeat champions. And New York fans could get the chance to watch them go for gold again, as six of them have high school eligibility remaining.
Hilton's Yianni Diakomihalis got the job done at the Times Union Center for the fourth consecutive time, adding a 138-pound title to his resume, after also finishing on top at 99, 106 and 120 pounds during his career. Diakomihalis, who was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the Division 1 tournament, will look to join Troy Nickerson as a five-time New York state champion as a senior before heading to Cornell.
