The University of Minnesota fired wrestling coach J Robinson on Wednesday, nearly fourth months after reports first emerged of an alleged drug ring involving more than a dozen student-athletes forming inside his team earlier this year.
The firing ends a 30-year career that will rank among the most decorated in Gophers history. Robinson, 70, has coached Gophers wrestling since 1986 and led the team to its only three wrestling national championships.
