In case anyone failed to notice Anthony Robinson last season, the second-year wrestler for Starpoint has been doing his part to stand out from the competition.
The junior has done that by earning some attention-getting victories in a 220-pound weight class filled with so many talented competitors it could be nicknamed the gauntlet.
The biggie to this point: He captured the prestigious title at the annual Niagara Frontier Wrestling Officials Tournament earlier this month, defeating the state's third-ranked competitor, Mason Hoose of Canisius, in the championship bout. Robinson, who is 27-5, also is 1-1 against Depew/Cleveland Hill's Matt Eldridge. Eldridge is ranked second in WNY in the weight class, while Robinson is third.
