Last weekend was a busy time on the mats for our local high school wrestlers. The annual Wayne-Finger Lakes Invitational Wrestling Tournament was held at Waterloo High School Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20 and 21. Wrestlers from Penn Yan, Marcus Whitman, and Dundee competed for individual and team honors in this two-day wrestling marathon. There were 17 Wayne-Finger Lakes high school teams represented. When the action was complete, the Midlakes Screaming Eagles brought home the overall team championship, scoring 213.5 team points. Locally, Marcus Whitman came in 7th place with 111 points. The Penn Yan Mustang wrestling team grabbed 9th place with 97 points and Dundee finished in 16th place with 47 team points.
