BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Jonathan Haas of the wrestling team has been named the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) wrestler of the week for the week ending February 5, 2017. This is the second time this season the junior has been recognized by the conference.
Haas earned three more wins this week at the John Summa Invitational in Berea, Ohio, winning the 125-lb weight class. After earning the top seed and an opening round bye, he wrestled his way to an easy first place finish, beating his first two opponents by technical fall before a 12-9 decision win over Nick Berry of host Baldwin Wallace in the finals. The Spencerport, N.Y. native is now 21-1 on the season, and is ranked ninth in the country at 125.
