SANBORN — Troy Keller is an early riser during hunting season. In the wrestling room, he's been a late bloomer.
The North Tonawanda grappler is having a record-setting freshman season at Niagara County Community College, holding his own against NCAA Division I, II and III opponents while dominating his junior college competition.
Born in August, Keller was always young for his grade, and his physical development lagged behind his competitive drive until the end of his high school career. Wrestling between the 132- and 145-pound classes as an underclassmen, he lost sectional matches against his peers from the Cobra Wrestling Academy in Cheektowaga, including future NCCC teammates Cody McGregor and Freddy Eckles.
