Scott enjoyed a very successful high school athletic career at Lewiston-Porter. He was selected All State in football and won a Section VI wrestling title in his senior campaign for the Lancers. After spending a year at Ashland College, Scott transferred to Cortland State where he captured the 1985 SUNY championships and earned the "Red Letter Award".
In 1990 Scott took the reins at Wayne Central School and the rest is history. Coach Freischlag earned many Section V championships and produced 72 individual sectional champions, many of them going to distinction careers in college. Bob Dierna, a former Freischlag wrestler, garnered two Division III NCAA championships for Cortland State and Josh Patterson gained All American status at Binghamton University.
The Upstate Chapter is proud to recognized Scott's achievements and welcome him to the Hall of Fame. This year's ceremony honoring Scott will be held on September 23rd, 2018 at the Double Tree Hotel in East Syracuse. Anyone interested in honoring Scott should call this number for tickets 607.244.8432.
