Fifteen weight classes has been the standard for high school wrestling in New York state for decades.
That could be changing soon.
Citing decreasing participation and increasing forfeits during dual meet competition, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's central committee is set to decide next week if 15 weight classes is too many.
