For the third time, Yianni Diakomihalis of Cornell has been named the EIWA Wrestler of the Year in a vote by the conference's 17 coaches.

The Big Red star put together a second straight undefeated season and is now a three-time NCAA champion with a career 94-1 record.

After winning a pair of national titles at 141 pounds as a freshman and sophomore, Diakomihalis made a smooth transition up to 149 pounds for his junior campaign. He went 28-0, with 18 bonus point victories against a challenging schedule that included 18 NCAA qualifiers. Yianni capped his 2022 season in the NCAA Finals with a dominant 11-5 dec over Ridge Lovett (Nebraska). The win gave Diakomihalis his third NCAA title.

During the season, he captured the Cliff Keen Las Vegas championship and his third EIWA title. He finished third in the final NCAA Most Dominant standings and earned the Ivy League Wrestler of the Year Award for a record third time.

A finalist for the Hodge Trophy, Diakomihalis is now tied with Cornell alum Kyle Dake for most ever EIWA Wrestler of the Year trophies.
