ITHACA, N.Y. -- Five Cornell wrestlers and one coach will compete at the 2022 World Team Trial Challenge Tournament on May 21-22 at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.

At 57kg in freestyle, Vito Arujau is No. 2 and Greg Diakomihalis is seventh, putting the Big Red duo on the road to meet in the quarterfinals. The winner of the Trials will meet Thomas Gilman at Final X (Stillwater). Two Big Red student-athletes will also compete at 65kg, where three-time NCAA champion Yianni Diakomihalis is the No. 2 seed and Josh Saunders enters as the 13th seed. The two semifinal winners at that weight will advance to Final X. Volunteer assistant coach Nick Gwiazdowski is the No. 2 seed at 125kg to wrap up the Big Red competitors at World Team Trials. In Greco-Roman, Phillip Moomey will wrestle at 60kg as the seventh seed.

Olympic silver medalist Kyle Dake will meet the winner of the 74kg freestyle event at Final X (New York) on Wednesday, June 8 at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. Final X Stillwater will be held Friday, June 3 at Gallagher-Iba Arena on the campus of Oklahoma State.

In addition, a number of other Big Red wrestlers had great runs at the Last Chance Qualifier this past weekend in Atlantic City, N.J. Both Jonathan Loew (86kg) and Lewis Fernandes (125kg) claimed silver, while Chris Foca (86kg) and Jacob Cardenas (92kg) grabbed third in their weight classes.

The World Team Trials Challenge Tournament features top Olympic hopefuls in the three Olympic disciplines: men's freestyle, women's freestyle and Greco-Roman.
