WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The St. John Fisher University wrestling team made their long awaited debut on Sunday when they competed in the Lycoming Invitational, hosted by Lycoming College. The competition saw wrestlers from SUNY Cortland, Elmira College, Oneonta State, Washington and Jefferson, Otterbein and York. The Cardinals saw 19 athletes compete, and each saw multiple bouts.
125
Carl Santariello competed in the 125-weight class and finished 2-1. In the first round, he won in a 9-7 decision, before taking round two in a 3-2 decision. He fell in the third round in a 5-4 decision. Dominick Diedrick was 1-2 on the day and his victory came on a pin fall at 0:32.

Derek Bernardino finished the day 1-2 with defeats over Lycoming wrestlers. In his victory, Bernardino secured a 16-11 decision. Zenmatsu Myles, was also in the 133-weght class and after securing an 8-5 decision he dropped his next two rounds. Cameron King also finished 1-2 after the competition, his win coming in a decision.

Torin Bishop and Mason Welch both competed in the 141-weight class. Welch dropped his first round match, but then won the next two with a 4-0 decision and a pin fall at 0:58. Bishop went an impressive 4-0, winning his first two matches on falls at 3:43 and 5:34. His third match was won on a 7-0 sudden victory and then ended the day with a 9-4 decision.

The Cardinals had three wrestlers at this weight class. Joshua Maslyn finished the day 2-1, including a 2:57 pin fall and a 16-0 technical fall. Luke Lupisella started with a loss, but then won back-to-back bouts with a 7-2 and 10-4 decision. Mason Wersinger was also 2-1, with a 16-1 technical fall and a pin fall at 1:48.

Blaise Coppola went 0-3 on the day, while teammate Trevor Sheehan finished 2-1 with a 2:21 pin fall and a 14-9 decision.

Ryleigh Duryee was 1-2 and the victory came on a 14-6 major decision in the 165-weight class.

Zachary Miller completed the competition 2-1, including a 10-8 sudden victory and a pin fall in his third round match. Josiah Prosser went 0-3 on the day. Dylan Haubner finished 0-3 in the competition.

In the 184-weight class, Nathan Coon went 3-0. In the first round he had a 5-2 decision and in the second he was victorious with a 9-2 decision. In his final bout, Coon had a 8-0 major victory.
285
Luke Crawley and Nathan Rourke represented Fisher in the 285-weight class. Crawley was 1-2 with his victory coming on a 15-6 major decision in the first round. Rourke finished the day 0-3.
Up next for the Cardinals is a road competition. They will battle in the Racich Rumble, hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, Nov. 12 starting at 10 a.m.
