Manhattan, NY - The SUNY Brockport wrestling program went 2-0 today after beating both Hunter College, 42-12, and New Jersey City University (NCJU) 29-16. Brockport improves to 3-1 overall in dual competition.
First Match - Hunter College: The men started off strong with a pin at 2:04 for 125-pounder Liam Bullock. Matt Caccamise joined the party with another pin for the squad in 4:30 at 133.
Deston McFarlane fell to Marquis Larmond in a 10-5 decision. 149-pounder Elijah Sims fell to Jahongir Davronov by fall at 5:51.
Sam Grey won by fall at 0:00 in the 157-pound weight class.
In the 165-pound weight class, Matthew Kline won by forfeit as well as Jared Zenie in the 174 division.
Karam Ali fell to Gevorg Arkelov at 2:00 in his first match of the day. Michael Sullivan won by forfeit in the 197-pound weight class.
Joe Yanis brings it home with a tough match ending in a 2-1 decision, over Hunter's Jacob Raboy.
Second Match - NCJU: Liam Bullock fell in his second match of the day by a 11-10 decision. Matt Caccamise finished 2-0 on the day, pinning Jacob Baeza in 2:50.
Marquis Larmond also went 2-0 after winning his second match by an 8-0 major decision.
Francis Whitehouse falls to NCJU's Jeff Johnson by a 5-0 decision.
Sam Grey wins his second match by a 8-0 major decision and Matthew Kline follows with a 6-3 win over Ryan Mcguire.
Karam Ali falls by a 4-1 decision. Michael Sullivan won by pinning his opponent, Marcus Hebron, at 2:10.
Joe Yanis brings it home once again with a good match, pinning Deren Cercioglu at 3:56.
The SUNY Brockport wrestling team will travel to the Mule Duals at Muhlenberg in Allentown, Pennsylvania next Saturday to face Delaware Valley University, Muhlenberg College, and Alfred State College.
