EAST STROUDSBURG, PA. - The Elmira College women's wrestling program dropped its season-opening dual matchup on Wednesday night in a battle of nationally ranked programs. The Soaring Eagles, who entered the dual ranked No. 22 would fall 37-12 against the No. 7 East Stroudsburg University Warriors.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles recorded their first victory of the match at 130 pounds as Gabby Bradigan '26 notched a win via criteria in a 7-7 decision against ESU's Gianna Amendola.
Two bouts later, Zoey Lints '27 would notch her first collegiate victory for the Purple & Gold.
Wrestling at 143 pounds, Lints would pin ESU's Jayla Hahn at the 1:33 mark to secure the victory for Elmira.
Skylah Chakouian '25, who entered the night ranked No. 7 nationally for the Soaring Eagles at 155 pounds, would match up against ESU's Paityn DeLong. Chakouian gained a 12-2 advantage at the 3:38 mark of the second period to secure the victory via tech fall for the Purple & Gold.
ESU opened the match with four consecutive victories via fall to jump out to a 20-0 lead before Bradigan stopped the run with her three points at 130 pounds. The Warriors also won via forfeit at 191 pounds to secure the 37-12 victory.
In a pair of exhibition bouts, Elmira's Ella Bode '27 recorded a pin against ESU's Rachel DeGiulio, while Sam Lamorte '27 dropped a decision via tech fall against ESU's Jackeline Ramos-Oviedo.
