Saranac three-peats as Section VII wrestling champion

SARANAC - A trio of Saranac wrestlers earned titles to lead the Spartans in their third consecutive Section VII championship.

Teegan Smith (108), Alex Clancy (138) and Dylan Cogswell (285) won their respective finals to help Saranac accumulate 172 points.

The Spartans held off Beekmantown (168), Northern Adirondack (160), AuSable Valley (119), Peru (113) and Seton Catholic (8) in team scoring.

Smith, an eighth-grader, pinned Beekmantown's Lily Blazina in 34 seconds at 108 pounds for his 23rd win by fall of the season.

He was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler by the section's head coaches.
