Alex Samson Named Mideast Regional Champion

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher University wrestling team had three athletes competing in day two of the NCAA Mideast Regionals. Alex Samson impressed in his matches and earned first-place in the 141-pound bracket.
After a strong first day, Samson had a semi-final bout against Bryson Vaughn of RIT. Samson was dominant securing the victory by way of a 11-1 major decision. In the first-place contest, Samson took on Gabe Goss of Oswego State. The contest was tight, but Samson was able to record the 8-1 decision to become regional champion.
Braydon Vandenberg and Jackson Burns had their days end early, finishing in sixth place. The two suffered injuries that led to forfeits in their finals matches.
