Brockport State's Franco Punches His Ticket to Nationals, Bullock Takes 6th at Mideast Regionals

Rochester, NY - The Brockport wrestling team wrapped up day 2 of NCAA Mideast Regionals on Saturday, March 2nd. Liam Bullock and Nick Franco advanced to Day 2 with a spot at NCAA Nationals on the line. The Golden Eagles finished 15th as a team with 38.5 team points.

Liam Bullock concluded his strong season with a 6th-place finish in the 125lb division. Bullock picked up 12.5 team points for Brockport, picking up a tech fall win in the 5th consolation round before falling to Lee Rubin of RIT in the 5th place match. Bullock would finish the 2023-24 season with a strong 21-13 overall record.

Nick Franco earned a spot at NCAA Nationals with a 3rd place finish (16.5 points) in the 285lb division. Picking up his first loss of the weekend in the semifinals, Franco rallied for two wins on the day, defeating Jeremy Mazzella of Ithaca by decision (25-9) in the consolation semifinals before taking down Jake Ahmad of Ursinus by major decision in the third-place match to secure his spot at nationals. Franco has dominated throughout the season, accumulating a strong 25-9 record on the season.

Up Next: Nick Franco will head to La Crosse, WI to compete at NCAA Championships beginning on Friday, March 15th.
