Robles and Labady Record Podium Finishes for Soaring Eagles at Adrian Invitational

ADRIAN, MICH. – The Elmira College women's wrestling team competed alongside some of the top programs on Sunday at the 2024 Adrian College Women's Invitational as the Soaring Eagles placed 13th in the team standings, with Talia Robles '28 and Tayana Labady '25 recording podium finishes at their respective weight classes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Talia Robles '28 rattled off five consecutive victories via pin to advance to the third-place match for the Soaring Eagles in the 145-pound "B" bracket. Robles rebounded on the day after dropping her championship round two bout via tech fall against Azana King from Schreiner.
Robles delivered five pins ranging from 58 seconds to 3 minutes and 34 seconds before matching up against King again in the third-place bout. King would get the better of Robles for a second time as she delivered a pin in 49 seconds.
Tayana Labady '25 opened her tournament with three consecutive victories, wrestling at 207 pounds for the Soaring Eagles, and advanced to the semifinals before battling to the fifth-place match.
Labady notched a pair of pins and a tech fall to advance to the semifinal bout against Caroline Ward from North Central. Ward was victorious with a pin as Labady would move to the consolation semifinals, where she dropped a 9-3 decision. Labady looked to pull off an upset in the fifth-place match against Madeline Hodges from Sacred Heart, but Hodges secured a 2-1 decision in the bout.
Abby Duke '26 recorded a win for Elmira at 110 pounds before seeing her tournament end via an injury default in her quarterfinal bout.
Megan Edwards '27 notched an opening-round victory and battled through the consolation rounds in the 124-pound "A" bracket for the Soaring Eagles before dropping a tech fall in the consolation fourth round.
Zoey Lints '27 received an opening-round bye and notched a pin to advance to the 145-pound "A" quarterfinals. Lints would be pinned by Riley Aamold from North Central before a medical forfeit in the consolation round ended her day.
Skylah Chakouian '25 competed in the 160-pound "A" bracket for the Soaring Eagles and started with back-to-back victories via fall and tech fall. Chakouian dropped her quarterfinal match, followed by her consolation fourth-round bout.
