St. John Fisher's Bishop Brothers Have Strong Showings At Roger Williams Invite

BRISTOL, RI - The St. John Fisher University wrestling team competed at the Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday, placing 11th in a field that included a handful of nationally ranked Division III teams.

The Bishop brothers — Trevor (141) and Torin (149) — had strong performances in the tournament.

Trevor Bishop, a freshman, lost his first match 6-4 by decision to Malcolm Chrispin (Bridgewater) before rebounding on the backside of the 141-pound bracket with a 9-4 decision over Gavin Ridley (Maine Maritime), a 12-4 major decision over Noah Krakower (Johnson & Wales and fall in 1:39 over Nick Sanders (Coast Guard). Bishop lost to No. 3-seeded Justing Fortungo (Wisconsin Whitewater) in the Consolation Round of 8.

Torin Bishop pinned his first opponent, Josh Lister of Norwich, in 40 seconds. After losing his second match to Colby Frost (Southern Maine), the junior beat Ryan Flemming (Plymouth) 18-0 by technical fall and teammate Justin Coiteux by fall in 4:47. His day ended in the Consolation Round of 8 with a loss to Jalin Conner (Wisconsin Whitewater).
