ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Simon Ruiz of Cornell wrestling took fourth place at the Cliff Keen Invitational on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Ruiz powered through the 174-pound championship bracket, beating three ranked wrestlers to get to the third-place bout. The freshman fell to No. 17 Garrett Thompson of Ohio in the final match to earn fourth of 37 wrestlers in his weight.
Marcello Milani and Ethan Fernandez lost both of their bouts today to ranked opponents to finish eighth in the 125 and 149 weight classes.
