Bulls Battle, but Drop Two Road Duals on Friday

NEWS

It was a busy day for the University at Buffalo wrestling team as they wrestled two duals in the Washington DC region on Friday. They opened the day with a 1 pm dual at American before traveling to George Mason for a 5 pm dual. Unfortunately, the Bulls lost to American, 25-13, and then lost to George Mason, 29-9. However, the young Bulls showed resiliency and fight in both duals.

In the opener against American, UB dropped the first three matches before Sam Ewing got the Bulls on the board with a 6-4 decision over Gage Owen at 149. Kaleb Burgess followed with a 14-5 major decision over Jack Neis at 157.

At 184, Marcus Petite earned a 2-0 decision over Hunter Hohman and Lonnell Pabon followed with a 12-5 decision over Liam Volk-Klos.

It was the Bulls Mid-American Conference opener when they faced the Patriots.

The dual started at 157 and Burgess led things off with a 9-6 decision over JT Chance for his second win of the day.

Petite had his best win of the season when he took down 24th-ranked Malachi DuVall, 7-1, in the 184 lb. match. Petite got a takedown and back points in the closing seconds of the first period to set the tone.

Andy Lucinsky earned his first dual win of the season in exciting fashion. Trailing for much of the match to Dominic Hargrove, Lucinsky got a takedown late in the third period and then put Hargrove on his back for a four-point nearfall to rally for an 8-4 decision.

The Bulls will be back in action on Dec. 14 at the Kent State duals.
