Alfred State Takes Victory Over The Panthers

Alfred, NY- Alfred State men's wresting went 1-1 for the day in the tri-match against the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles and the Pitt-Bradford Panthers. Their overall record is now 3-2 on the season.

In the dual against the Panthers, Mason Drew (133) put the Pioneers up 4-3 by notching a 12-2 major decision victory. Elijah Moshenek (141) followed behind with an 8-1 win by decision. While having a 7-3 lead, the Panthers came back and took the lead by way of fall. Nevertheless, Pioneers rallied and notched back-to-back falls that came from Owen Cummings (157) and Benjamin Rivera (165). Rivera's fall came within the first two minutes of the first period. Two matches later, Alfred put up 12 points on the board with a Chris Herriman (184) win by forfeit and a Aaron Johnson (197) fall. Johnson picked up the fall victory 54 seconds in the dual. Pioneers took the dual 31-21.

In the matchup against Brockport, Pios started off strong with momentum. The first dual was taken by Ryan Farley (125) off a disqualification victory. Drew (133) and his victory by fall came immediately after. Moshenek (141) pushed up the score even more for the Pioneers with a 14-4 win by major decision. After some more matches, George Racz(174) entered his dual trying to keep Alfred's 14-13 lead. Racz (174) took the match by decision, 6-3). Pioneers weren't able to keep the lead as they fell 27-19.

In the Exhibition matches Cornelius Griffin picked up a win:
