Collegeville, PA- The Alfred State Men's Wrestling team placed 8th out of 14 teams at the Will Abele Invite. Elijah Moshenek took home 4th place in his weight class.
Moshenek started off by grabbing a win over Evan Thompson (ESU) by decision 8-2. He then would go to win another decision over Antonio Intintoli (Western New England) 5-0. Moshenek then notched a fall win over Luke Reitter (TCNJ) in 5:22. He then would go on to lose two matches, landing him a fourth-place title in the 133 class.
In the 285 class, Keaton Renfrew started off late with a loss by fall but followed with a win by forfeit. Renfrew would then win the next round by a medical foreit. He notched two consecutive fall wins over Garett Gayle (Camden) and Jake Edwards (Wesleyan). He finished by grabbing a tech fall win over Dominick Albertelli (Nassau) 15-0, earning him the sixth-place spot in the 285.
Jayden Norris notched an eighth-place title in the 149-weight class as he started out earning a decision win over Mike Meissner (TCNJ) 9-6. He would then fall by decision in the next round. He came back the next round earning a medical forfeit win followed by a decision win 8-2 over Manny Lucas (Shenandoah). Norris would then notch a fall win over Austin Noe (ESU) in 2:02.
Chris Herriman also notched an eighth-place finish in the 184-weight class. Herriman started strong with a fall win over Matthew Murray (ESU) in 4:47. He took a loss in the next round but quickly bounced back as he notched a fall win over Robert Keener (Shenandoah) in 2:27. Herriman followed that with another fall win over Marcus Sollers (Southern Virgina).
The Pioneers will be back on the mat next Sunday at the Jamestown Community College Open at 9:30 am.
