Bulls Sweep Glenville State and Bloomsburg

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team won both of their duals on Sunday afternoon, sweeping Glenville State and Bloomsburg. The Bulls beat the Pioneers, 22-19, and topped the Huskies, 29-11.

Glenville State came into the match as the second ranked team in Division II and jumped out to a 12-0 lead on the Bulls.

Sam Ewing got the Bulls on the board with an 18-5 major decision over Gavin Quiocho in the 149 match. Kaleb Burgess got a late reversal to earn a 3-2 decision over Guy DeLeonardis at 157.

Hunter Shaut followed with a major decision over Wiley Houser at 165 to cut the lead to 12-11.

Trailing, 15-11, Marcus Petite gave the Bulls the lead with a tech fall over Zach Holstion at 184.

Lonnell Pabon followed with his biggest win of the season, pinning Kyle Homey midway through the second period. The pin iced the win for the Bulls.

In the second dual, the Bulls cruised to a victory over Bloomsburg to level their MAC record to 2-2.

Max Elton started things off with a 21-5 technical fall over Colton Lewis at 125.

Ewing needed only 1:11 to pin Nik Voros and give the Bulls a 17-5 lead.

The Bulls earned decisions at the next three weight classes by Burgess, Shaut and Ty Raines.

Petite capped off the UB scoring with an 11-3 major decision over Kolby Flank.

The wins improved the Bulls to 4-9 on the season. They will next wrestle at Northern Illinois on Friday.
