Jayhawks Secure Victory in JCC Quad Meet

NEWS

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's (JCC) wrestling team earned their first team victory of the season on Saturday in their quad meet with Onondaga Community College, Garrett College, and SUNY Niagara.

Jamestown took down Onondaga 23-21. An impressive accomplishment when you factor in the team was wrestling with a roster of five student-athletes.

JCC came out of the gates firing on all cylinders versus the Blazers, with Gavin Warner getting things started at 133 points as he earned a pin in the third round.

Ryan Parton also secured a pin in his opening match at 141.

Teammates Nicholas Ewan and Brad Smith also brought home victories, with Ewan netting a tech fall.

The team win was JCC's first of the season.

The Jayhawks weren't as fortunate in their second pairing of the quad, falling to national power SUNY Niagara 32-8.

Warner stayed hot on the season, earning a 10-3 decision.

Christian Hernandez bounced back from a loss to Onondaga with a tech fall at 174.

The other three Jayhawks took tough losses to close out the day.

JCC doesn't have much time to rest as they host the 2025 Jamestown Jayhawks Open starting on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM.
