Aidan Gillings was still hungry when last season ended.
After finishing eighth overall at the NYSPHSAA championships in the Division II 138-pound division, arguably the toughest weight class in the tournament. It featured seven previous state placewinners, four state finalists and two state championships.
After losing to Mount Sinai’s Brayden Fahrbach in the state finals in 2023, Gillings lost to Fahrbach again last year in a quarterfinal match. And it left him wanting more.
