Manheim, PA—The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) proudly announces Jim Beichner's addition as its newest team member. Beichner will serve as the Director of Coaching Development and bring decades of leadership and coaching experience to the organization.
With over 36 years of experience in leadership roles across collegiate athletics and professional sports, Beichner has fostered a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and trust. His diverse career includes significant contributions to wrestling and auto racing, where he has established strong professional relationships with coaches, athletes, race car drivers, crew chiefs, and executive managers.
Beichner's most notable tenure was as the head coach at the University at Buffalo (1995-2013), where he led student-athletes to success in competition, academics, and community service. His administrative acumen extends to fundraising efforts for nonprofit organizations such as Carly's Club, the Jeff Parker Foundation, UB Wrestling, and the NWCA.
Before joining the NWCA, Beichner was General Manager of MAC's Performance Engineering & Manufacturing (2024-present) and Director of Athletics for Penske Racing (2013-2023). His coaching career began as an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh (1988-1994), leading to his long-standing impact on wrestling at the University at Buffalo.
Beichner is no stranger to the NWCA, having previously served as NWCA President (2008-2010), President-Elect (2006-2008), and a member of the Board of Directors (1998-2005). His return to the organization marks an exciting new chapter in NWCA's mission to develop and support wrestling coaches nationwide.
"After dedicating over 30 years to wrestling as a competitor and coach at all levels, I'm excited to bring my experiences to this new endeavor," shared Beichner. "I'm eager to bring the lessons I've learned back to the NWCA—an organization that has been a cornerstone of my career. Having served as President, President Elect, and Board Member, I deeply appreciate the NWCA's mission to grow wrestling, support coaching development, advocate for the sport, and prioritize student-athlete well-being."
"We are thrilled to welcome Jim Beichner back to the NWCA in this vital role," said NWCA Executive Mike Moyer. "His deep experience and passion for coaching development will be instrumental in strengthening our initiatives and supporting coaches at all levels."
Beichner was born and raised in and around Jamestown, New York. He currently resides in Salisbury, North Carolina, near Charlotte, with his wife, Delaney. All three of Jim's adult children also live nearby in the Charlotte area: Jake and his wife, Alexandra; Sam and his wife, Angel; along with their two beautiful daughters, Cameron, and Reagan; and his lovely daughter, Grace.
