ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's wrestling program returned to Speidel Gymnasium for a dual on Monday, as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 46-11 decision against the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles. Hollis Berry '25 was victorious for EC at 157 pounds, while Casey Cooper '25 won via forfeit at 184 pounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The match opened at 149 pounds as Victor Hyland '28 used an early reversal to pull within a 3-2 score before being pinned at the 4:30 mark by Brockport's Alex Smith.
Elmira trimmed the gap in the match to 6-5 as Hollis Berry '25 responded for the Purple & Gold with a 17-1 tech fall victory over Sam Zeigler at the 4:30 mark of the 157-pound bout. Berry used three take downs along with two near falls to stake himself to a comfortable advantage.
Kahajen Smith '25 battled through all three periods at 174 pounds for the Soaring Eagles despite dropping an 11-1 major decision.
The Soaring Eagles would get a forfeit victory at 184 pounds as Casey Cooper '25 helped EC claw back to make the match score 16-11.
The Golden Eagles closed the match with a fall at 285 pounds followed by forfeit victories at 125, 133, 141, 165, and 197 pounds.
In an exhibition match-up, Elmira's Patrick Stauring '27 squared off against Brockport's Dylan Kolk at 149 pounds. Kolk delivered a pin at the 2:27 mark to secure the victory over Stauring.

The Soaring Eagles host their final regular season dual on Thursday, February 13 inside Speidel Gymnasium, beginning at 6:00 p.m. A recognition will be held prior to the match honoring the Class of 2025.
