Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport wrestling suffered its first dual loss of the season on Friday night to St. John Fisher, 21-20.
First year Head Coach Troy Seymore finishes 6-1 in dual action, reviving the program from its 2-12 showing in duals last year.
It was Senior Night at The Vlog for the Brockport wrestling team. Prior to the action the team took time to recognize Liam Bullock, Nick Franco, Jaden Friel, and Marquis Larmond.
In the first bout of the night, Liam Bullock took the 19-9 major decision victory at 125.
Up next was Matthew Reehill's technical fall win (6:19) at 133 to put Brockport up 9-0 early.
St. John Fisher bounced back with wins at 141, 149, 157, and 165 to go up 18-9.
Looking to get the Golden Eagles back on the board, Gavin McLaughlin scored at 174. He won by decision , 11-7, making it a 18-12 deficit for the team tallies.
Kiam Coleman kept Brockport alive with his major decision win at 184, 16-2.
The visiting Cardinals ended up with a decision win at 197 to hold a 21-16 lead on the scoreboard.
Although Nick Franco got another major decision win, 9-1, he needed a fall or tech. fall to give the squad the victory/tie.
St. John Fisher held on by a thread to pull out the 21-20 win over Brockport on Senior Night.
In a set of exhibition bouts, the Golden Eagles saw some other strong noteworthy performances.
Marquis Larmond earned a technical fall win in his matchup, 23-2 (6:48).
Elijah Bonet came back in another exhibition and grinded out a 2-0 decision.
To close out the night, Brockport's Luke Coffin won the final exhibition bout by fall (2:36).
The Golden Eagles will head to St. John Fisher for the Cardinal Invitational next weekend.
