Elmira, NY- The Alfred State Women's Wrestling team finished 8th and had three Pioneers earn place finishes at the NCWWC Regionals. Dianna Pineda earned a spot at the NCWWC Nationals with her 3rd place finish.
Dianna Pineda notched a third-place title at regionals today in the 117 weight class, earning the highest placing out of all the Pioneers. After a bye for the first round, Pineda would go on to win by fall over Rebecca Ridling (D'Youville). She would then lose the next round but bounce back and win by a tech fall over Hailey Beck (New Jersey City). In the third-place match she won by fall over Hailey Laabs (Western New England) in 3:17.
Allison Strausbaugh earned sixth place in the 160-weight class. After receiving a first-round bye, Strausbaugh took a loss which was then followed by two byes. She would then go to lose the following two rounds, including the fifth-place match, earning her a sixth-place title.
In the 207 weight class, Hannah Grawn notched sixth place. After receiving a first round bye, Grawn took a loss, quickly followed by another bye win. She would then go to win by fall over Diamond Martin (Buffalo State). Grawn would take two more losses, earning her a sixth place title for the day.
