Elijah Moshenek Punches Ticket To NCAA National Tournament

Williamsport, PA- The Alfred State men's wrestling tallied three place finishers at the NCAA Regionals. The Pioneers finished in 15th place with a score of 36 points.

Elijah Moshenek was the top place finisher for the Pioneers in the 133-weight class as he finished third. With this third-place finish, Moshenek punched his ticket to the NCAA National Championship tournament. He started day two with a first-round fall over Botensky Bauzile (Hunter) in 1:43. He followed with a 5-3 decision win over Michael Santore (Oswego State) to advance to the third-place match. In the third-place match, Moshenek notched a 6-4 decision win to take third place and the chance to go to the national tournament.

Benjamin Rivera fell in his first match but earned a spot in the seventh place match. He would suffer a second loss to take eighth place in the Region in the 165-weight class. Brent Perry would also suffer two losses to take eighth place in the Region at the 184-weight class.

Moshenek will be back in action next weekend in Providence, RI for the NCAA DIII National Championships on March 14th and 15th.

The top three standings are: 1) Stevens- 153, 2) Ithaca - 115.5, 3) Wilkes - 108
