WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The St. John Fisher University wrestling team wrapped up competition at the Division III Region II championships on Sunday with six wrestlers on the All-Region Team.
The Cardinals finished in eighth place as a team with 78 points. Stevens won the team title, finishing with 153 points, 38 more than second-place Ithaca.
Senior Daniel Parkulo (125 pounds) and freshman Trevor Bishop (141 pounds) advanced to the semifinals in their respective weight classes on Saturday. Junior Derek Bernardino (133), sophomore Paul Lichter (157), sophomore Braydon Vandenberg (197) and sophomore Jackson Burns (285) entered Sunday still alive on the backside of the bracket.
None of the six qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. The top three finishers in each weight class earned automatic bids.
Parkulo lost to eventual 125-pound champion Kaden Majcher (Lycoming) by major decision in the semifinals. He lost to Jack Thode (Centenary) by fall in the consolation semifinals before winning the fifth-place match 10-3 by decision over Dominic Terracciano (New Jersey City).
In his semifinal match, Bishop fell to Joseph Innamorato (Centenary) by major decision. He lost to Cole Neil (Penn State Behrend) by decision in the consolation semifinals and beat Ryan Santiago (Wilkes) by fall to claim fifth place.
Lichter, Vandenberg and Burns also placed fifth in their weight classes. All three won their first matches on Sunday before falling in the consolation semifinals.
Bernardino finished eighth at 133 pounds.
