JCC’s wrestling season came to a close at nationals in Council Bluffs, IA. It was a great year for Ryan Parton, Nicholas Ewan, and Brad Smith. Congratulations to all three on making it to the championship meet!

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - Jamestown Community College (JCC) had a trio of wrestlers earn their way into the NJCAA national championships held in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday.
Ryan Parton took the mat at 141 pounds, where he was seeded 15th and received a first-round bye. Unfortunately, he had a tough draw with a pair of Division One wrestlers in the second round, where he lost 13-1, then in the consolation, where the sophomore was eliminated 17-1.
Switching to 149 pounds, it was Nicholas Ewan sporting the green and gold as the 16 seed. He also received a bye before having the same outcome of drawing back-to-back Division One wrestlers. The sophomore dropped his round of 32 match 10-2 before being knocked out in the consulation bracket 18-3.
Lastly, Brad Smith was ranked 16th at 174 pounds. It was another Jayhawk bye for the freshman before losing 17-3 in the second round of the winners bracket. On the consolation side, the freshman was pinned to end his time in the championships.
