Levendusky Update from Tennessee

NEWS

Derek Levendusky, formerly of Avon, NY, has shared an update from Tennessee:

Been fun to keep up with old friends and watch HS wrestling play out in NY this year. So many names in finals and on podium that were teammates and opponents in youth wrestling!

Anyway, pretty intense postseason for us. On one hand, my kids Audrey and Jack both medaled at States which was pretty special. Reese graduated and Jack stepped right in. He took 5th as a freshman and Audrey took 2nd. She's now a 3x finalist and 2x state champion. She's also ranked #10 in the country in USA Wrestling. Jack finished regular season ranked #3 in Tennessee. That also means that every one of my five wrestling kids have earned state medals (Essie & Joye in NY, Reese, Jack, Audrey in TN). Here's a local article on Audrey from Main Street Media that discusses her NY roots: https://mainstreetmediatn.com/articles/county/tssaa-wrestling-levenduskys-near-departure-from-wrestling-turns-into-high-school-stardom/

On a heavier side, one of my wrestlers (I'm Montgomery Central boys head coach) experienced a tragedy on the mat. During his 3rd place match at Sectionals, Immanuel Gilmore broke his neck and is paralyzed from the chest down. It has been a huge headline in TN wrestling and maybe you could help spread the word and post his GoFundMe? Here's some links to the story.
