Cortland junior Angelo Centrone (Mahopac) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Co-Wrestler of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday.
Centrone was the national runner-up at 149 pounds at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship last month, earning All-America honors awarded to the top eight in each weight class. He finished the 2024-25 season with a 30-1 record, with his lone loss coming in the national championship match. He also registered five pins, 18 tech. falls, and one major decision for the season.
Centrone was the 149-pound champion and was chosen as the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the NCAA Division III Region 2 championships, finishing the regional meet with a 4-0 record, including two tech. falls and one major decision.
He was the SUNYAC champion at 149 pounds and was named the SUNYAC Championship Most Outstanding Wrestler, going 5-0 with a pin and three tech falls to help Cortland win a share of the SUNYAC team title.
