ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Here are the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winners for boys wrestling:

Large school

Our large school winner added to his lengthy list of achievements in his junior season finishing his season with an impressive 42-2 record.

Competing at the 138-pound weight class, one of the deepest in Section V, he won his third straight sectional title.

He was also named Class A-1 outstanding wrestler of the meet and the Monroe County division 1 lightweight wrestler of the year.

This junior took second place in the Eastern States Wrestling Classic — one of the most prestigious events in the country.

He also placed at states for the third time in his career… Taking second place for a second straight season.

The News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winner for boys wrestling at a large school goes to Pittsford’s Samson McKissick Staley.

Small school

Our winner finally broke through at the state level after years of sectional success.

Just a junior, he’s already racked up 106 pins in his career — with 168 wins and just nine losses.

Wrestling at 131 lbs., he won a sectional title for the fifth consecutive season.

He took second place at the Eastern States Classic this year.

He’s made the state championships four times in his career, and this year he finally reached the top of the podium, winning by major decision to claim his first state title, and finish the year with a 46-1 record.

He has already committed to wrestle at Division I Lock Haven University
