Oneonta's Ryan Collects SUNYAC Wrestler of the Week Honor

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta wrestling senior Jack Ryan (Trumbull, CT/) was awarded the SUNYAC Wrestler of the Week honor, for the week of November 3-9, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. Ryan finished the week 4-0 with four first-round falls in a combined time of 2:09 and went on to win the 184 division in the Anchorman Invitational at Rhode Island College, while being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Ryan, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) No. 2 nationally ranked 184-pounder, opened the day with a 26 second pin against Rhode Island's Rocco Simone, then recorded a 36 second fall against Simone's teammate, Ethan Silva. Ryan moved on to the finals after pinning his teammate in 22 seconds in the semifinals, and he defeated Rhode Island's Andrew Pappas with a 45 second fall in the championship.

Oneonta went on to win the Anchorman Invitational this previous weekend, and they will be back on the mats this Saturday, November 15, for the Wilkes Invitational at Wilkes University starting at 9:30 am.
