Ithaca Women’s Wrestling Hosts Inaugural Home Tournament

ITHACA, N.Y. – In the first-ever home event for Ithaca College women's wrestling, the Bombers hosted Utica University, Elmira College, Alfred State College and Buffalo State four a round robin tournament that was held in Glazer Arena inside the Athletics & Events Center on Wednesday evening.

At 117, Arianna Leo started Ithaca with a quick 54 second pin over Buffalo State's Hailey Hankinson. She ended the day 2-0 after a 10-0 tech fall – also coming in 54 seconds – over Al Kirsh (Alfred State).

Also representing the Bombers at 117 was Delaney Bisaillon. The first year needed just 55 seconds to earn a 10-0 tech fall over Alfred State's Al Kirsh. In her second bout, she earned a 10-0 tech fall over Hankinson in 30 seconds. Bisaillon improved to 5-0 on the year with all victories coming with bonus points.

Sophia Torian dropped her opening bout, 8-2, in the 124 "A" bracket. The first year went on to pin Alfred State's Kierra Willis in the next bout (52 seconds) before falling in her third match. She concluded her Ithaca Invite on a high note defeating Alfred State's Ana Martins-Garcia, 5-2.

In the 124 "B" bracket, Angie Berry went 2-1 for the Bombers. Coming off a first bout win, she concluded the day with a 21 second pin in her final match over Utica's Octavia Dragotta. She would score one final win taking down Alexis Haeusler (Alfred State) pinning her in 37 seconds.

Senior Sammi Meyer went a perfect 4-0 at 131. She started the day with a 12-1 tech fall over Ethe Hemphill (Alfred State). In her next bout, she pinned Utica's Dakoda House in 1:49 and followed with a 12-2 tech fall (2:46). Meyer wrapped up the event with her fifth pin of the season, this one coming in 1:01 over Alfred State's Anna Sheahan.

At 160, Melina Georgas turned in a 2-1 record. Responding after a loss in her opening match, she earned a 10-0 tech fall in her next bout (4:52). She capped off the day with a pin in 5:23 over Jyla Johnson of Alfred State.

Next up the Bombers will have a quick turnaround as they prepare to compete at the Millersville Women's Open, beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 16.
