ITHACA, NY - Utica University's women's wrestling team kicked off its 2025-26 season by traveling to compete in the Ithaca College Invite. The Pioneers competed in five weight classes, finishing inside the top five of all of them. Jacqueline Mace and Hannah Kusmierczak (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) led the way for Utica, with each placing third in their weight class.
The Pioneers saw three total wins on the day, split between their two third-place finishers. Kusmierczak took two wins in the event, one by forfeit and the other by fall over Alfred State's Emily Brown. Mace's win also came by fall, with hers over Alfred State's Christina Paluzzi.
The team will aim for a quick turnaround, as their upcoming event is just four days away on Sunday, November 16th. Wilkes University will play host to the Wilkes Women's Open at its McHale Athletic Center. Action is set to begin at 10:00 am.
