Pioneers Split Home-Opening Tri-Match

Alfred, NY – The Alfred State men's wrestling team split the day in their home-opening tri-match, defeating Waynesburg 46–12 and falling to St. John Fisher University 42–6. With the results, the Pioneers move to 1–1 on the season.

In the dual against Waynesburg, Ryan Farley opened the 125 bout with a tech fall, and Mason Drew (133) followed with a forfeit victory. Richard Morales added a tech fall at 141, while Kyle Meyer (149) and Owen Cummings (157) each secured first-period pins to push Alfred's lead to 28–0. After Christian Warren (165) earned another forfeit win, Waynesburg finally got on the board with a victory at 174. Aaron Johnson (197) closed things out in emphatic fashion with a fall at 2:09 to lock in the Pioneer win.

Against St. John Fisher University, Sean Malenfant picked up a fall in the 184 bout for Alfred State.

In exhibition action, Jordan Busby (125), Richard Morales (141), Richard Andres (149), Jared Dolder (149), Christian Warren (165), Chris Herriman (184), and Austin Debolt (285) all recorded wins in their respective matches.

The Pioneers now hit the road for Syracuse, NY, where they'll compete in the NYS Collegiate Championships. Action begins on Saturday, November 22 at 10 a.m.
