Oswego State's Canzano Captures Title at NYS Collegiate Open

Syracuse, NY – Three Lakers took to the mat on Saturday in Syracuse, New York at the NYS Collegiate Open. Canzano once again lead the Lakers capturing the tournament title at 184 lbs.

How It Happened

Sophomore Avery Canzano led the Lakers capturing the tournament title at 184 lbs in the freshman/ sophomore division with a perfect 5-0 record.

Sophomore Steven Ventricelli finished 2nd in freshman/sophomore division at 157 lbs with a 3-1 record.

Mike Santore was 3rd in the Open division at 141 pounds compiling a 4-1 record.

Freshmen Juan Roque was 4th in freshman/sophomore division at 125 while classmate Jayden Kiell was also 4th in freshman/sophomore division at 184.

Freshman Donovan Rail rounded out the Laker place winners with a 6th place at 149 lbs in freshman/sophomore division. Rail compiled a 5-1 record on the day but could not compete further due to the maximum 6 match rule.

The Lakers finished 7th out of 19 teams in the FR/SO team standings with 76 points.

What's Next

The Lakers will have a small break before heading to RIT on Saturday December 6th.
