Sartori, Mehlenbacher, Thompson and Ammarell will lead DWC grapplers this winter

NEWS

LCAA’s FINEST

DANSVILLE – The numbers on this year’s Dansville/Way-Co wrestling team are outstanding, and growing every year.

DWC finished 3-4 last year under head coaches Justin Walker and Levi Wormuth.

Top wrestlers this season include Wyatt Sartori, Peter Thompson, Garrett Mehlenbacher, Isaac Kurtz, and Weston Mehlenbacher, as well as exceptional female grappler Hope Ammarell.

“Wyatt, Peter, and Isaac lead the team as captains for the boys, and Hope will captain the girls,” coach Walker said.

Sartori was the 101-pound Class B1 champion last year and also voted as the tourney’s MOW.

Mehlenbacher won the 124-pound crown while Thompson also captured a sectional title at 160 pounds.

Sartori also won the Supersectional title and placed fourth at the NYS Championships.

Thompson placed second at Supers.

Look out for those two again this season

“This season is all about growth and getting back on track as a team,” coach Walker said. “Our main goal this season is to grow as a team and be on the winning side of LCAA, as well as chase the state tournament as individuals. We have a very large team this season, including adding a women’s team with 12 girls. We have a ton of new green talent, and we are excited for the future. Be on the lookout for our guys as well as our ladies on the mat this season! We hope to be the top team not only for the men's season but the women’s as well! We plan to make a ton of noise this season.”
