Warsaw boys and girls ready for some grappling

NEWS

LCAA’s FINEST

WARSAW – With six returning sectional place finishers, including four Supersectional place finishers back this season, Warsaw looks for another strong year on the mats for head coach Glen DiStefano.

Warsaw finished 7-6 on the season in 2024-25.

“The goal this season is for all returning wrestlers to take that next big step,” coach DiStefano said. “We have a strong young nucleus that we are preparing to reach their individual goals, which will lead to overall team success.”

Key returners include Brody Shaffer, Tavin Shaffer, Anthony Moran, Colton Dahl, Mason Sundt, and Nick Hudson.

Top newcomers for Warsaw include “five to six freshmen that will be taking on new challenges entering the varsity lineup. I am excited to see the growth that they
show along with Aiden Sonricker and Ty Bellinger, possibly taking on new roles at weight classes,” DiStefano said.

Warsaw will also have a separate varsity girls team, which includes: freshmen Kaylee Mott and Mallorie Riggi; sophomores Alexis Sonricker, Olivia Wiseman, Alexis Bennett and Shae Feenaughty; and senior Katelyn Smith.
