ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT wrestling team went 2-0 with a 33-20 win over Nassau Community College and a 36-12 win over Oswego, Saturday.
Against Nassau, first year Jackson Rush pinned Jaime Sanchez 2:20 into his match at 133 lb. Junior Isaiah Shafer beat Jonathan Fox, 21-2 at 141 lb. and first year Marco Rivera defeated Dante Salerno, 16-0 at 149 lb. to extend RIT's lead to 16-5. Sophomore Jack Lamson pinned Kenaje Demosthene 1:04 into his match at 165 lb. and senior Mason Grodzki picked up a 15-0 technical fall win over Anthony Velzquez at 174 lb. Senior Josh Harkless, ranked No. 3 at 285 lb., pinned Dominick Albertello 51 seconds into his match.
Versus Oswego, Rush picked up a 15-0 win over Ben Burkhart at 133 lb. Rivera and Shafer each had forfeit wins at 141 lb. and 149 lb. respectively. Lamson was a 17-1 winner over David Hammerle at 165 lb. Grodzki was a 23-8 winner over Christopher Coleman at 174 lb. First year Marcus Burgos defeated Kevin Arriaza at 197 lb. and Harkless pinned Dustin Koskinen-Falls at 285 lb.
RIT returns to action on Friday (Jan. 9) at the NWCA National Duals.
