Binghamton splits duals at Journeymen Wrestling’s ArmBar

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – The Binghamton wrestling team (3-1, 2-0 EIWA) split its two duals at Journeymen Wrestling's ArmBar Sunday at the Impact Athletic Center. The Bearcats defeated EIWA foe Hofstra 20-17, while falling to Lock Haven 27-9.

What Happened Against Lock Haven

In Binghamton's first dual of the day against Lock Haven, No. 27 Carter Baer picked up his fourth victory against a ranked opponent this season when he defeated No. 33 Avery Bassett 4-1 in sudden victory in the 174 lb., bout. Baer battled Bassett to a 1-1 tie after three periods. In overtime, it only took Baer 16 seconds to record a takedown and secure the win.

Mikey Squires improved to 3-0 on the season with a 5-3 decision over 2025 national qualifier Tucker Hogan in the 197 lb., bout.
Carson Wagner opened the dual with a 10-3 victory against Curtis Nelson at 125 lbs.

What Happened Against Hofstra

In the early stages of this back-and-forth dual, Binghamton earned its first two wins in overtime. Wagner first defeated Teague Strobel 7-4 in sudden victory. Then at 141 lbs., Ryan Hartung got a takedown with 13 seconds left in the second tiebreaker to ultimately defeat Chase Liardi 4-1, tying the dual at 6.
After Hofstra moved ahead 9-6, Fin Nadeau picked up a crucial 5-4 decision over Frank Volpe at 157 lbs., to bring the dual to a 9-9 tie.
With the Bearcats trailing 12-9, Baer was able to pick up two extra points for Binghamton after he defeated Eric Shindel in a 21-5 technical fall. The technical fall, which was Baer's third of the season, gave the Bearcats a 14-12 lead.

After Hofstra retook the lead 17-14 with a 21-5 technical fall of its own in the 165 lb., match, Squires stepped up for the Bearcats in the 197 lb., bout against Will Conlon. Trailing 4-0 entering the third period, Squires recorded an escape and a takedown to tie the match at 4. After Conlon got an escape, Squires picked up the final takedown with seven seconds remaining to win the match 7-5. Squires' victory, which moved him to 4-0 on the season, tied the dual at 17 heading into the final match.
With the dual on the line, Trent Sibble took the mat for the Bearcats at 285 lbs., against Adrian Sans. Neither of the two heavyweights gave up a point until early in the third period, when Sibble got an escape. Sibble then defended himself for the remainder of the match to shut out Sans 1-0, giving Binghamton its third dual victory of the season and second against an EIWA opponent.
